Abit IP35

Strengths: Price, Raid support and just the right combination of ports.

Weakness: No serial nor parallel ports. Double boot.

Perfect price and specification for someone who needs more than the basic, but not the whole lot. Has Raid, firewire, but no esata port. Esata port can be easily fixed by getting a external port with cable and plug in to one of the free sata ports on the board. Negatives are the missing serial and parallel port. Also the double booting of the bios, but there seems to be fix on the way. Very...

Excellent Overclocker And/Or Basis For A Quiet PC

Strengths: Smart layout, stable operation, fast booting, clean audio, relatively low power consumption, excellent overclocking potential. Works right out of the box with the supplied drivers.

Weakness: The 2 aux fan headers are not voltage controllable. The onboard Firewire header might be blocked by 2-slot graphic cards. Abit FanEQ is not as good as SpeedFan or even Q-Fan in my opinion.

I really like the layout and features of this board except as noted above. I solved the fan header problem by making a wiring harness to run 3 case fans from the 1 system fan header. I use SpeedFan to monitor and control the fans rather that the supplied utility (besides, I'm not particularly fond of monster trucks!!!). The heatpipe cooling solution works well with a cooler that blows air...

Abit IP35 Rocks!

Strengths: Quality Construction Numerous Features Accessory Hardware Bundle

Weakness: Minor Layout Drawbacks

I used an Abit board back in the PII days, then went a few years without seeing one. My return to the Abit user world was definitely a pleasant surprise. Installing the board was a breeze due in no small part to the included hardware, cables, etc. Setup and installation of all components went without a hitch and I was soon up and running Fedora 8 with absolutely no compatibility or performance...

Good, but you need to know.....

Strengths: Great features, really like the Intel Matrix RAID, plenty of room for expansion.

Weakness: Problem booting right out of the box, easy to fix once you know how, BIOS update will probably be needed (see comments).

The original motherboard would not boot. Once the power-on switch was pressed the CPU and system fans would spin for part of a second and then stop. My thought was that the board was DOA. I called the supplier and requested a replacement. There was a "mix-up??" at the supplier and the replacement was not shipped as promised. After several calls and some "prodding" the supplier finally shipped the...
