LCD finally matches the quality of plasmaStrengths: Localized LED backlighting produces the deepest blacks and highest contrast ever in an LCD TV, while using less electricity. Weakness: Standard-def scaling not up to par for a top-of-the-line model. Samsung's highest-end 81 series of LCD televisions are the very first to incorporate a backlight made of hundreds of LEDs instead of the usual fluorescent tubes. The many benefits are immediately visible in its amazing contrast and color quality that finally matches that of plasma screens. Many reviews all agreed this is the best LCD they've seen, and in my own purchasing research it is very easy...

Excellent LCDTVStrengths: Excellent picture quality Weakness: None. Maybe the higher price, but well worth it. The picture quality and functions of this HDTV are excellent. When I first turn on the TV, it had some odd problems like firmware message keep coming up every few second, VCR connected to ANT1 show only b/w picture with no sound. All that cleared up after turning off and on the TV and those problem never came back. Talking to Samsung tech support online was great help too. One thing I wish was...

L.E.D. lighting source= ROCKS!
Strengths: Awesome HD picture. Excellent motion with no distortion. The built-in sound quality is also great.
Weakness: Non HD picture could be better...but that can be improved with optional, manual settings.
I went out of my way to find this TV on display (lit up) so I could see the difference between the L.E.D. source (back) lighting and the traditional Flourescent type (back) lighting that has been around for some time. The black shades were much improved along with deeper reds, blues and yellows...which transfers into deeper greens, etc. An additional plus is the savings on energy with the L.E.D....
