better than the crap from microsoftStrengths: keynote is brilliant. Weakness: lack of interoperability between iwork and office. if you have to use a mac, iwork is much better than ms office (especially the pathetic office 2008 for mac). for presentations, keynote blows powerpoint out of the water. pages and numbers are nice too. surprisingly, for an apple product, the price really isn't bad. one issue might be compatibility, since the iwork applications have their own file types.

PagesStrengths: Better control and more intuitive than Word. Weakness: Pages will not open some large Word docs I have, don't know why. Haven't used the other iWork programs yet, but definitely rate Pages as much better than Word, and love the price! The interface is much clearer than Word's. I got very tired of trying to set indents and paragraph styes in Word and not have them work. Pages' style settings are available right there at the top of the interface making it ultra easy to set font, size, paragraph style, etc. Love it!

Glad I made the choiceStrengths: iworks has many templates to use. there are many choices for fonts. editing is easy Weakness: no clip art I find iworks much easier to navigate and it can be easily explained. it is easy for my husband who is not computer savvy to use and for my six year old child to use. There are always tutorials available if you get stuck or lost.

A solid performer with good compatibility...Strengths: Intuitive interface, powerful presentation capabilities, compatible with most Microsoft Office documents Weakness: Doesn't handle complex formulas This suite rounds out the fun of iLife '08 with the power needed to produce documents, presentations, and spreadsheets with the flare of Apple design. iWork '08 is not as powerful as Microsoft Office (not as costly either), but most users will be able to easily create documents and presentations with impressive results that will leave most Office users asking "How did they do that?" True...

very solid suite for the priceStrengths: Keynote is excellent and Pages keeps getting better; surpisingly good import/export of Office documents (not perfect of course, but pretty good) Weakness: this first release of Numbers is lacking some features Keynote alone would be worth the price, or at least Keynote and Pages. Until Numbers gets some additional features, just consider it a nice freebie that may cover many of your spreadsheet needs. All three apps are easy to use, although if you're used to MS Office apps you should expect a slight learning curve (though not nearly as long as for the Office apps themselves in my opinion). For the...

iWork 08Strengths: Easy to use document templates, all documents can be saved in Microsoft Office file format, simple and elegant design Weakness: none so far I purchased iWork 08 because it was much easier to use than Microsoft Office plus it was over $50 less. I like the document templates provided with Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You just have to select the template that you want and fill it in with information.I also like the fact that all files can be saved in Microsoft Office format for those who need it.

Great office suite for personal/small business useStrengths: Ease of use, Keynote rocks, price Weakness: Numbers is not up to par yet Keynote is widely regarded as the best presentation app out there - even better than powerpoint. Presentations in keynote are a joy to make, and look at. Apple has upgraded Pages app so that it better competes with MS Word. Newly introduced Numbers app is not an excel killer yet, but more than meets my needs for graduate classes. The import and export functions work very well - so you can easily...

Keynote alone is worth the priceStrengths: Outstanding presentation software Weakness: Lack of support for equations I bought iWork '08 mostly for Keynote and I'm pleased with it. I'm a scientist and we usually use other software for scientific writing and graphing, instead of Pages or Numbers (or their MS counterparts). However, presentation software is pretty much the same for everyone: Powerpoint for Windows or Keynote for OS X. Keynote and Powerpoint both encourage users to use bullet points in their...

iWork '08Strengths: Cocoa app, with full Mac OSX functionality, looks good Weakness: Can't buy components separately, view options limited I only use Pages, the word processing component of iWork, and wish I could have bought it alone. Mostly I wanted to jettison the last Microsoft app I still used, Word. I can compose docs in Pages, and save in Word format to send to coworkers with no difficulties. This now also includes the "track changes" feature from Word, which is preserved in Pages. This is a full Cocoa app, with all the bells...

Apple iWork 08
THE GOOD: The new Numbers spreadsheet software rounds off this suite, which offers attractive and intuitive interfaces; solid new features for image editing, page layout and printing; applications integrate well with each other, with iWeb, and with Apple iLife; and they read Microsoft Office 2007 files. THE BAD: Apple iWork 08 lacks an e-mail application; pivot tables and Visual Basic macros not... Top

iWork 08 (full product, Mac)
Strengths: Ease of use and variety of program packages
Weakness: not enough graphics. Can not read the database information from Appleworks.
So far, I love this program. I only wish I could easily convert my Appleworks word processing program documents with out having to open and save each document individually. The price of this program combined with its effectiveness, easily makes this a more preferable program to purchase than Microsoft Office.
