Great Value

Strengths: Low light shots are decent Huge LCD Uses both xD and SD

Weakness: No viewfinder

I think this a great camera for the price. It has a nice feature that lets you take both a flash and natural light sight in succession. and shows the results of both side by side. The low light shots are pretty good. I was worried because some reviews praised it and other fault it it's ISO performance. However it seemed like the the bad reviews were not factoring in mega-pixel differences in...

Fuji FinePix F50fd

Strengths: very compact 12MP camera; face detection; performing well in low light; numerous advanced features

Weakness: only 25fps jpeg video at 640x480 max; ISO not lower than 100; flash a bit weak; noisy pics at high ISO.

Going from a 10MP to a 12MP point and shoot camera, I expected some longer delay between shots. But the F50fd is actually much faster than my previous brand S 10MP camera. The picture is crisp and full of details. But like any other 12MP cameras, pictures are a bit noisy at high ISO. The dual image stabilization eliminates blurred pictures quite well and makes this camera very user friendly for...

Not best but better than other point and shoot cams!

Strengths: Slim design, SD and XD card support, 12mp CCD sensor, small packing

Weakness: Noisy beyond ISO400-800, ISO6400 is not usable at all, a little bit pricey, and battery life.

I've placed this one after my f31fd got stolen. F50FD has very slim design, and technologies but not usable in practical life. Start-up time of the camera is quite fast. Image quality is great in bright sun light. Not as good as f31fd in dim light.

Unreliable and bad after-sales service

Strengths: Small, light, good menu, good colors in well-lit conditions.

Weakness: Broke down after two weeks of moderate use (stopped focusing). Fujifilm still haven't replaced or fixed it after 10 weeks of waiting and a couple of requests for a progress report.

Very disappointing. I have an empty wallet and no camera. Photos under low-light conditions were very grainy and with poor color reproduction - the Fujifilm marketing overstates this as a strength of the camera. Flash charging was awkwardly slow. My biggest grumble is that I have to go to web pages to even remember what my camera looked like. I got half-way through an overseas holiday when it...

Great first impressions!

Strengths: Light, sleek, versatile memory options. 12MP, IS, many other features.

Weakness: Proprietary USB cable to connect to computer

This is my first FUJI, always went with Canon before. Right off the bat I felt the difference in weight, it feels like it weighs what it should. Lighter than my SD630. Powering it up for the first time was a pleasant experience, the menus and functions are well laid out and easy to use. The only features that I do not like so far are the proprietary USB cable and that when some changes are made...

not much better than its precessor

Strengths: good night shooting mode

Weakness: flashlight is too weak

I had a fuji finepix F20 camera for myself. I was very glad it works very well with night shooting. Now I'm getting this for my girlfriend. she likes it a lot too. But we just felt the flashlight sometimes is too weak at dark.

Happy with it

Strengths: 12 MegaPixel, capable for both SD and XD cards.

Weakness: LCD, not wide-angle lens.

This camera is used as the 2nd camera beside my DSLR. I haven't tried taking any pictures in a low-light condition because that is my DSLR's job. Lack of view finder is not my problem because I don't use it anyway. When you use a view finder, you won't know the settings of camera (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) which are displayed on the LCD screen only. However, the LCD seems to be the only...

Fuji FinePix F50fd

Strengths: Compact size, 12MP, dual image stabilization

Weakness: Pictures are quite noisy at high ISO, Video recording is subpar

I decided to purchase the Fuji FinePix F50fd after reading several online reviews rating this model as one of the best compact digital cameras. Picture quality is excellent in both well lit and dim locations as long as you have it set at a low ISO. My only complaint is that the video recording is subpar and there appears to be excessive noise in the background. Overall, a very functional, easy to...

Great digital camera with best cost-benefit ratio!

Strengths: Good cost-benefit ratio; slim design; menu easy to understand; high resolution up to 12M pixel; multiple modes to choose from; large LCD display; with image stabilization function; with facial detection function

Weakness: ISO setting not easy to find; 35mm zoom lens is not wide enough; without view finder

I bought this digital camera to replace my old Canon powershot S500 bought 3 years ago. The Canon S500 is thicker and heavier than this one with only 5M pixel resolution and much smaller LCD display and is more expensive than this camera. But the Fuji F50 is very impressive by its large-sized LCD and its slim design. The wheeled menus is very easy to switch among different shooting modes. The 12M...

Best P&S Camera

Strengths: excellent image quality, compact, large LCD

Weakness: no view finder, image not as good as the Fuji F30/F31

I purchased this camera after reading several reviews that claim this camera produces the best quality images compared to other point and shoot cameras. The camera definitely has not disappointed me. It does well in low/indoor light. I've read that the Fuji F31 is better, but unfortunately that model is no longer produced, and I'm unwilling to shell out the higher prices that some sellers are...

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd Review

Though we expect a lot of noise from a 12-megapixel point and shoot digital camera, we were impressed enough with the Fujifilm F50fd's printed output to give it a strong rating. Features were also admirable, with the FinePix F50fd's Face Detection 2.0 able to crop portraits out of a group picture as a unique skill, and the Natural Light and Flash mode is a smart hedge against a post-snapshot...

DCRP Review: Fuji FinePix F50fd

If there ever was a camera that gave me mixed feelings, it's the Fuji FinePix F50fd. On the one hand, I like its design, LCD visibility, and of course, its high ISO performance. However, I was disappointed by the F50's heavy noise reduction and blurry edges in low ISO photos, sluggish performance, and possible quality control issues. And, as someone who was a huge fan of the FinePix F30, I find...

Fujifilm Finepix F50fd Review

The Fujifilm Finepix F50fd is a 12 megapixel compact digital camera with 3x zoom lens and 2.7 inch LCD screen. Successor to the popular F31fd model, which was renowned for its low-light performance, the new F50fd adds image stabilisation, an upgraded Face Detection system, new ISO 6400 mode and stylish 'Aero curve' design. The F50fd also retains the creative aperture-priority and shutter-priority...

Camera Labs – Fujifilm FinePix F50fd review

If you were hoping the F50fd was the new high ISO performance leader, prepare for a disappointment. It may be no worse than rivals, but it’s certainly no better. Where the F50fd does score though is its no-nonsense approach to common activities like indoor flash photography. Like the F30 / F31fd before it, the new FinePix is a great indoor party camera, focusing and exposing faces perfectly and...
