AMD X2 5000+ Black Edition CPU

Strengths: Unlocked multiplier, Great overclocker, Reasonably priced

Weakness: CPU cooler not included

This is another great CPU from AMD that can easily be overclocked because the multiplier has been unlocked. You pay a little more for this feature but it is well worth it unless you have no intention of overclocking. I was able to achieve performance close to a 6400+ CPU and my system is stable. I highly recommend this CPU but you will need to purchase your own CPU cooler because it is not...

Great Cpu

Strengths: Can Overclock at great speeds.

Weakness: No cpu cooler.

I paired this with a Gigabyte GA-m61p-s3 and worked great. Couldnt be more pleased for the price. AMD does it again!!! I would recommend getting a top notch cooler for this, i always go with Zalman. I use Zalman 9500.

Good value and performance when overclocked.

Strengths: Easy to install, overclocks well.

Weakness: None so far.

Installed easily and good overclocker. Overclocked to 3.20GHz @ 1.4v with a 16x multiplier. Can be overclocked to 3.30GHz @ 1.45v with a 16.5x multiplier but preferred not to push it to the limit. Running it with a cooler master hyper tx universal cooler. Overall CPU temp runs at 38 celsius with core #1 at 20 celsius and core #2 at 30 celsius. These are averages and since I do not play games do...

Great processor for the money.

Strengths: Ability to overclock right out of the box, unlocked multiplier(allows the easy overclock), and price

Weakness: Does not included CPU heatsink and fan, processor uses older technology compared to new Intel products.

I wanted a new AMD processor. I was looking to get an Athlon 64 X2 4800 when I saw that AMD had just introduced the 5000 Black Edition with an unlocked multiplier to allow easy overclocking, I decided the Black Edition was the one I was going to purchase. I had to purchase a CPU heatsink and fan and I found a good deal with rebate at a online retailer. After assembling the processor and heatsink,...

Excellent Processor, worth the upgrade.

Strengths: Unlocked Multiplier Low Power Cool operating temps Very Fast (6400+) No need to OC memory etc. No useless fan

Weakness: Make sure your motherboard can support this Not worth it if you do not plan to OC

I purchased this as an upgrade to a 4600+, while I could sell the 4600+ on EBAY. This is a welcome improvement, and runs at 3000Hz on stock voltage at 40C under load. It takes a little more to hit 3200Hz (My Motherboard only goes to 1.35V, and it runs fine at 3200Hz, but will error on Prime95 tests. If I could get to 1.4V it would probably run fine. Crystal CPU allows me to do 15.5 multiplier,...

X2 5000 Black Edition

Strengths: Good Price, Great overclocker

Weakness: No Cooler

Great product at a great price. Overclocked to 3.0 G Hz and works fine. Will need a Cooling fan. Would Recommend Highly! Not as Advanced a ssome Intel models but alot cheaper.

Athlon 5000+ Black Edition

Strengths: Cheap budget processor, easy to overclock, low power consumption and low heat, dual core.

Weakness: No heat sink fan but who uses the stock cooler anyway...

This is one of the best, cheapest Athlon chips you can buy right now. It's dual core and can overclocked to 3+ ghz with ease. The combination of low power consumption and low heat make this processor top notch. It doesn't come with a heat sink fan, but most people are going to want an after market fan anyway to get the full potential out of this chip. Be sure to use some Arctic Silver to get the...

X2 5000+

Strengths: Unlocked multiplier, overclock to 3.2mhz, price

Weakness: cache

Overclocked processor to 3.36ghz on Gigabyte motherboard. Would not boot at 3.4ghz. Set the multiplier at 12 for easy overclock. Idles at 30 degrees with 50 under load. Processor has only 512KBx2 cache but is more economic thab Core 2.

Cheap Fast dual core from AMD

Strengths: OVERCLOCKING. if you are not going to OC then I suggest dont buy this. This is def for OClers and easy to do that. Unlocked multiplier makes it easy to OC by even a newbie to OC.

Weakness: NO HS & Fan. Worried about future upgrades. Will AMD be able to support phenom in the MB i have this processor now. No con for this processor as such.

Bought cheap for less than $100 + a $30 combo offer with 250GB seagate HD. works great on first try. OCled it to 3.0G. I tried 3.1G but too much heat and I wasnt comfortable pushing my system but 3.0G is plenty. I also have a pentium dual core E2180 OCled to 3.0G. cant tell difference. If you are a AMD fan you cant go wrong with this baby.

Great processor and a perfect overclocker

Strengths: Price vs performance

Weakness: Cool'n'Quiet does not mix well with OC'ed processor

Great processor. Running it at 3360 Mhz (210 x 16) with a little more voltage running through it. With the Tuniq Tower (low) it runs at 37C idle and 48C load. One thing that i completely forgot about was how Cool'n'Quiet would work with this processor. In XP when enabled it will default to its original multiplier (x12) so it will negate all the benefits of an overclocked 5000+. Not a big deal but...

Released a month after the 9500 and 9600, the AMD Phenom X4 9600 BE uses the same naming convention as AMDs earlier dual core models. The BE (Black Edition) suffex denotes only one crucial difference between the two models. With an unlocked CPU multiplier, AMD has allowed comuter enthusiasts greater control over what speeds their processors run at. By tweaking it, along with the Hyper Transport,...
