Don't buyStrengths: None. Weakness: It has a serious BUG. I have one of these and I want to alert everyone who want to buy disks from MAXTOR. There's a situation that crashes the control board: if you repartition this hard disk something get corrupted in the embedded microcontroller and you have to reflash it for yourself - a commercial product to fix it costs the bargain of U$ 500.00. Strengths: Holds lots of space, runs well. I paid $67 off an EBay auction for it so that was an unbeatable deal!
Weakness: Seems a little loud, only operates at 5400RPM not 7200RPM.
I got this drive brand new off an EBay auction about 2 years ago. It works fine, hasn't died yet. Maybe I should have reviewed it after it died but oh well. It runs fine and I have it in Antec Hard drive enclosure which makes it nice, I can easily pull it out and makes things so much easier and more convienient.
