VOX 500GB External HD

Strengths: Simple to setup and compact. Also casing is strong and sturdy. e-SATA and USB 2.0

Weakness: Connectors that connect to HD come off easily. Poor customer support.

The Ext HD is simple and straightforward to setup. I liked it for its high performance and ease of use as an external hard drive. But the drive is bundled with underdeveloped backup software, when you want to use it as an automatic backup solution, you will need to spend a little more for a third-party application. Also VOX customer support is very poor ...when you have issues to resolve.

Sleek Design & Easy to use

Strengths: Really smooth plug & play drive. It included an easy to use backup software. The black chassis with blue light looks so nice. It's rally quiet and the eSATA connection is super fast.

Weakness: The provided backup software doesn't have the fanciest or most user-friendly interface, but once you get used to it, it's just fine.

After a $40 rebate, I ended up getting this drive for $159.99. This deal was too good to pass up. The VOX brand is highly reputable. This drive is effortless even for a novice user.

VOX isn't worth your time

Strengths: Case and price

Weakness: Power supply failed within first 3 months. Drive failed within the first 6 months

Tried to get an RMA via emails not replies with 4 emails. Telephone goes unanswered. Filed complaint with Better Business Bureau, still no response from VOX.

Excellent External Hard Drive

Strengths: Sleek design, USB 2.0 & eSATA options, quiet, plenty of storage, affordable price.

Weakness: Backup software is not the best, plus the case gets a little hot when you're backing up data.

Overall this hard drive was a great bargain compared to other 750GB external hard drives available. It sits nicely on my desk and is very quiet. It does get a little hot, but I suspect this is due to filling the drive with 300GB of data. I didn't like the backup software, but it works fine with any third party backup software. This hard drive is highly recommended.
