A Nice Portable Drive Solution

Strengths: Power by USB, Small Size, Friendly Backup Software, 5 Years Warranty

Weakness: No 1394 Port, Low RPM Speed

Setup is easy and fast. Fabulous software utilities. incredible Back up routines that add and delete files to the backup folder in compressed or non compressed format to make sync truly SIMPLE. I use it for a backup, and have had no trouble at all. Its a great buy, if you don't need much storage.

Good portable external hard drive

Strengths: Small size with solid design; USB 2.0 portable HD with 250GB

Weakness: should have 1394 port

This is a compact portable USB 2.0 external hard drive. HD is 5400 rpm plus USB 2.0 transfer speed.?Makes transfer huge data fast and more easier to carry with everyday. Since it uses USB 2.0 port, any regular USB cable with mini port works just fine. But it would be better to have a retractable USB cable with it. The design of surface helps it run cooler.

Nice Small Drive with Good Backup/Image Software v.2

Strengths: Small form factor comes with all you need including nice bundled disaster recovery software.

Weakness: Software is proprietary and only works with drive. The USB cable is also proprietary and had difficulty having it boot/charge from another.

This is a nice drive that I bought from Buy.com for $117.00. This is the second OneTouch Mini, the first was the 160 GB but with the price drop, was almost the same price. It was the best price for the drive. The drive while more expensive than some other 250GB USB powered drives, does have some advantages worth considering. First, it is bundled with a disaster recovery software as well as the...

OneTouch 4 Mini External 250GB Hard Drive

Strengths: compact size and easy to use

Weakness: 250GB is not really enough for our family, need to shop for another one

This is a good external hard drive. it has compact size is esay to carry. It has been use for over two months, haven't make any noise at all. We need extra hard drive to fit our needs. Overall, this is a great product!

Seems to be a solid 2.5" drive

Strengths: No problems yet. Got a good deal on it.

Weakness: A little noisy.

I bought this external HD to upgrade my laptop's HD. I used Acronis True Image (trial version) to make a clone of my laptop HD onto the external HD, then opened the external HD case (very easy, no tools required), removed the drive, and installed it in my laptop. Everything works fine. I just went from 80gb to 250gb! The Maxtor drive is a little noisy (faint clicking sounds) than the original...

Nice little external hard drive

Strengths: Small form factor USB powered Nifty software

Weakness: none so far reliability?

I also have a 500 gb Seagate a/c powered external hard drive. However, I like the OneTouch better because of its small form factor, portability and the nice software they packaged with the drive. Recommended.

Maxtor 250GB Portable Hard-Drive

Strengths: Compact & light; sleek looking

Weakness: Funky USB Connections

I used to have a Seagate FreeAgent Go portable hard-drive, but didn't like the plastic case. It scratched easily, and seemed fragile. I really like this unit. It's sleek looking, has a brushed aluminum case and rubber sides to help protect it. Installation was an ease, though I bypassed loading any of the bundled software. There is a funky USB cable, that I am guessing is to help power the drive....

250GB portable drive

Strengths: 5 year warranty, runs cool.

Weakness: Bulky cable, not much useful software.

This is a portable drive. Its look is not as good as some other brands, but I guess having this kind of surface helps it run cooler. When I bought this drive, first thing I did was wiping it out, creating two partitions and encrypt one partition with freeware truecrypt, and installing freeware portable suite into the other partition. This way, I can encrypt all my private data without installing...

Maxtor 250gb mini

Strengths: Small size, 5 year warranty, good price

Weakness: NONE

As the price of 2.5" hard drive keeps dropping just as any other modern electronics products, 250GB portable hard drive is below $80-$90 so most of people can afford one. I got it from bestbuy with 12% coupon and final price came to $78. I am very satisfied with the price. The hard drive is small and backed by seagate(maxtor) 5 year warranty. Comparing with western digital drive (3 year), I...

Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini 250GB Portable External Hard...

Strengths: Very fast delivery. Everything worked. The product generally met my expectations.

Weakness: None

The associated backup software is easy to use and the process of back-up very seamless. Luckily I haven't yet had to test recovery. The one thing I'd like to see the Maxtor Manager software do is include a capability for backing up Outlook Express mail files. I'll need to set up some additional processes to facilitate backing up the contents of those files. I like the form factor (small) and the...
