Great low cost DSLR camera

Strengths: Price, lightweight, small in size. Batteries last a long time.

Weakness: None that I noticed.

This is a great beginner DSLR camera. It uses both CompactFlash and xD memory cards. I don't see why anyone would use xD memory cards since their maximum capacity in 2GB compared to 4-8GB for CompactFlash. Although this camera has a live view feature I find myself rarely using it since it takes longer. It's still a nice feature to have if you need it. Also the LCD is 2.7" which is a nice size...

Look at the expert reviews.

Strengths: Features, image quality, size, lens choices.

Weakness: None to date.

All I have to say is click on the expert's reviews. This camera has been phenomenal. Think about having a camera that is the size of a compact camera, but gives you all the same abilities has a full size D-SLR.

Move Along

Strengths: Cheap, small

Weakness: Lens selection is shallow, not sturdy, slow

Why bother with this brand when there are so many nice Canons and Nikons? That is what I finally decided after buying this and trying it for a week. Olympus used to make great SLR's, but their Digital SLRs are so far behind the curve that you shouldn't bother. I stepped up to a new Rebel XSi and I love it.

Pretty good

Strengths: Great pics, uses compact flash(cheap), great beginner camera for the right price.

Weakness: wish it used SD(cheaper still), Panaroma feature locked to XD cards only.

I'm writing my review based on the fact that mine cost me $314 with the lens included. If i'd have to pay full price i'd still go with Canon no questions asked. But for the price I paid I think it's a really good camera. The images are really nice and for a beginner DSlr user...it's very good. The only thing i have to complain about it the fact that Olympus locks it's panaroma feature unless you...

Olympus E-420

What remains is reality and the reality is positive. Although some features, such as the dynamic range could do with some improvement, and we know that the signal / noise ratios at high ISO could do better too, the Olympus E-420 did really well. The extremely compact FourThirds DSLR had some help from its predecessors, however, the improvements carried out in particular to the image sensor, leave...

Olympus E-420 Review

The new Olympus E-420 takes over from its predecessor, the E-410, as the “World’s smallest DSLR camera”. Positioned as a digital SLR that compact camera owners will want to upgrade to, the E-420 now offers contrast detection autofocus in Live View mode, the same system as used on a point-and-shoot compact, with face detection also available. That’s not to say that the E420 is a basic DSLR...

Olympus E-420 Review

Olympus's second pass at the super-small digital SLR, the E-420, gets a lot more features, with a new hybrid Live View autofocus system that includes contrast detection, a new daylight-viewable LCD, and even Face Detection technology. The Olympus E-420 is still their smallest and lightest SLR, yet they managed to increase its frame rate to 3.5 frames per second. The Olympus E-420 is still a...

DCRP Review: Olympus E-420

With the new E-420, Olympus has created a true "go anywhere" digital SLR -- especially when paired with the new 25 mm "pancake lens". The E-420 offers great photo quality, snappy performance (in most respects), live view, and both auto and manual controls, all in a compact, well-built body. That doesn't mean that the E-420 is perfect, though. Its design isn't for everyone, images are slightly...

Camera Labs – Olympus E-420 review

The Olympus E-420 is an unusually small and light 10 Megapixel DSLR aimed at point and shoot owners looking to upgrade, along with enthusiasts who want a camera they can use in situations where a traditional DSLR would be too cumbersome. It shares virtually the same design as its predecessor, the E-410, which makes it the World’s smallest and lightest DSLR. Fit the optional Zuiko Digital 25mm...
