Samsung ML-1710 Laser PrinterStrengths: price, print quality, speed, small Weakness: none, except maybe usb interface if you don't like that I got this printer at Microcenter (similar to Fry's) for $100 after rebates. It was well worth it. It takes about 30-45 seconds to warm up to print the first page (by comparison my work printer takes about 1 second, even in energy save mode! (but it's >$1000)). But once it's warm, it will shoot out the pages very quickly, probably at its rated 17ppm. 600 dpi resolution is fine, trust me. I don't...

Purchased at checksnet.com because I needed MICR magnetic toner cartridge to print checks and they appear to be the only source with MICR for all Samsung laser printers. Advertisement

Samsung ML-1710 Laser Printer
Strengths: Takes a lot of abuse and keeps on working
Weakness: None
I bought one of these for my son's school in September 2003. It is the workhorse printer of the school's computer lab and has performed like a champ despite the abuse that middle schoolers and tech-clueless teachers have dished out. I cannot recommend this printer highly enough.
