Maxtor accidentally makes the perfect desktop drive.Strengths: Huge storage, very reliable, fast and quiet. Weakness: Only available in huge sizes so there is no low-cost option. This drive is actually intended for big companies to quickly backup huge amounts of data before it gets transferred to tape backups. Try to ignore that little oddity, though, this drive easily holds the top spot for desktop use. It's not the very fastest, a distinction still held by the 74GB, 10000 RPM Raptor, but it is the best. These drives cost less than Raptors, hold four times as much data,...

Great capacity for MatorStrengths: Great capacity, ATAII, 16MB Weakness: None I like it. I install it as my 2nd HD on my desktop. The installment is easy. You almost cannot hear noise from this HD. The speed is faster than my Seagate 160G HD. 16MB is definitely an add for this hard drive. It comes with 5 year warranty which is better than the retail kit. It worked for enterprise backup. You can trust it if you always want to download or backup file.

Needless to say it didn't, so a separate purchase of a SATA data cable will be necessary (at least with the OEM edition I purchased at NewEgg). Also, 4 course-thread screws will also be in order... Large Capaticy, Decent Price, Quiet & Great Quality
Strengths: Good value; quiet; fast; awesome warranty
Weakness: MaxBlast software flaky with Norton GoBack
I've only had this for a couple of days, but thus far, I am very happy. I am not a power user at all, I mainly made the switch from Parallel ATA (PATA) drives to Serial ATA (SATA) drives for their convenience and forwards compatibilty. Clearly, PATA is on its way out. SATA has the advantage of being faster, and more convenient for interfacing and hookup (one power cable & a simple serial cable,...
