Unbeatable value for the price

Strengths: * A host of advanced features for a fraction of the price * Great sound quality * Smooth software/driver installation (on Windows XP)

Weakness: * Although this seems to be an industry standard for the sound card product line, 90 days warranty is way too short in my book.

My Creative Audigy 2 recently died. To replace it by a comparable product from Creative, would cost me more than a hundred dollars. This sound card provides all the features that I need and then some. My classic music collection sounds great! A big difference from using the built-in audio card.

Turtle Beach Montego

Strengths: Great price, Sounds great, optical in/out.

Weakness: Can't output the mini phono 5.1/7.1 channels at the same time as outputting on the optical channel.

I bought the Turtle Beach Montego to replace the 7.1 on-mother-board sound. I was debating on getting one of the higher end Creative labs audio cards but I have had bad experiences with them in the past. For instance I would get a crackle sound while using them in a EAX mode during a game. After reading the reviews here I decided to give it a try. I mean what a great price! I like optical in/out...

Amazing performance / fraction of the other's price

Strengths: OPTICAL OUT!! Won't find a Creative card with it. Does everything I need. Blows the old onboard sound away. Drenches you in all the sound effects while gaming or listening to music.

Weakness: None so far.

I was looking for a card that could perform great with Battlefield 2 and couldn't stand the Creative prices. Don't forget that Creative has cornered the market and very few manufacturers can compete, but Turtle Beach has stayed afloat and has come up with a great card for a fraction of the other's cost. I use my old home entertainment receiver and wanted to use the optical input for the crisp...

Best sound card for your money right now.

Strengths: Awesome On-the-fly Dolby Digital encoding.

Weakness: None.

This is definately the best sound card right now, considering the price. It is comparable to the SoundBlaster X-Fi but costs a lot less. The soundblaster x-fi doesnt even do on-the-fly dolby digital encoding like the Montego DDL does, so you can even argue that the montego is better. This sound card is best paired with the logitech Z-5500 speakers, using a digital optical cable.

Another great Turtle Beach product...

Strengths: Relatively cheap, excellent sound.

Weakness: Included control panel not very user friendly, a little buggy.

After getting rid of my old computer which had a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz - which I loved - I was forced to listen to music through the integrated SB Audigy that came with my new PC. Was nothing compared to the Santa Cruz, so I figured a new soundcard purchase was in order. Went with TB because of my good experience with the SC. Put soundcard in, setup software on CD, and and realized what I've...

Turtle Beach Montego DDL sound card

Strengths: Optical out, surround sound, strong bass. Inexpensive about $50 without rebate.

Weakness: Drivers are a PAIN to Set Up.My computer crashes everytime I use a avi/video file. Used C-Media's Drivers (CM8768) and everything works. See Comments!

True background and surround sounds. Strong bass. The sound card must go with 5.1 or 7.1 sound systems like Logitech X-530s. Its drivers are buggy on my AMD computer (Windows Media Player Classic with all video/audio codecs to view all avi, divx ... video). When I open a video file (AVI), my computer reboots automatically. I searched the Internet and followed advice to download C-Media's CM8768...

Nice card for the price

Strengths: inexpensive compared to other cards, decent set of features, multiple ports to make use of

Weakness: none yet

This is the second Turtle beach card I picked up. This one is for my second computer (first was a Catalina card for an older system). Using this Montego for minor gaming and for audio editing and other generic purposes. It's much better than the onboard audio. I didn't experience any major troubles with the drivers or installation, but I really haven't used the card to its full potential yet. My...

Best sound card for the money

Strengths: Price; Great sound quality; Digital optical in and out

Weakness: none so far

I used to own a TB Santa Cruz, which was awesome. This card obviously continues the TB tradition of great sound quality + affordable price. I only have a 5.1 set but the music came out was rich and clear. If you are looking for a budget card that produces high-quality sound, look no further!

Great Sound Card

Strengths: -Dolby Digital Live -Digital Optical In and Out -Reasonably Priced -Easy Install -Good Software

Weakness: none

I was looking for a card with digital optical out and DDL in order to hook this up to my home theater system in my dorm room. This turned out to be the perfect choice. Installation was really easy, and I only needed the one cable to hook up to my receiver. Music and movies both sound great in surround sound through this. Highly recommended.

Disaster on my Amd Athlon XP 2600

Strengths: Seems good on paper

Weakness: Terrible stability

I bought this for my home theater PC. It seems that others have had some trouble with AMD Processors. I have given up on this hardware. I tried to install the regular drivers - crashed within 5 minutes of booting, and I tried the CMedia drivers for the 8768. It would also crash when I would enter the settings and try to change to Dolby Digital Live - as well as crash in normal operation of my...
