Description

Wavespeed/S utilizes Bluetooth technology to offer a secure, standards-based solution to enable wireless RS-232 serial cable replacement between a peripheral device and a host. This standalone solution is transparent to the host application software - it acts as the serial cable and transfers data wirelessly without special software or drivers. Wavespeed/S is designed for use in either bonding mode or Serial Port Profile (SPP) server mode. In bonding mode, two Wavespeed/S adapters are paired together, forming a wireless link for instant serial cable replacement. One Wavespeed/S is connected to a host PC; the other is attached to a serial peripheral device like a bar-code scanner, receipt printer or scale. Following configuration, these two Wavespeed/S adapters transfer information between the host and device, just as if they were joined by a hardwired serial cable. Alternatively, a single Wavespeed/S adapter may be used in SPP server mode. In this mode, Wavespeed/S will make an SPP connection with any SPP-capable Bluetooth device, such as a PDA, PLC or WAN radio.
